History of New Wave of British Heavy Metal

The New Wave music genre of British Heavy Metal Music often abbreviated as NWOBHM started in the 70s, and became popular not only in Great Britain, but throughout the entire world. This music emerged because of the rebellion against the pop music that expanded rapidly in the 1970s. NWOBHM has a different style of music that evolved at that time. NWOBHM rely on rewing up the speed, pumping up the volume. For appearance, they differ from other types of music. They are characteristic of chains, leather jackets, long hair, and denim. Thats was what the bands and fans wore on their


Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath is a band that pioneered this music. their success was followed by other big bands like Tygers of Pan Tang, Blitzkrieg, Def Leppard, and Saxons. NWOBHM-inspired music from heavy metal bands like metallica and Megadeth.


The New Wave of British Heavy Metal style music was not intended to be main stream or be popular with a large population. There were lots of NWOBHM bands around that only had one hit, then disappeared from the music scene because they could not survive. Deff Leppard was one of survival NWOBHM band and have a huge fan until these day.
